At 21, Tom was living independently in Tower Hamlets after leaving care and was determined to build a career in construction. Carpentry had always been his main ambition: it was an area he cared deeply about, understood well and wanted to develop his skills in. With his knowledge of construction and carpentry, it was also a realistic path for his future.
